I spent August vibe-coding using Cursor and parenting my almost 4-year-old and 1-year-old daughters.
Parenting toddlers is no longer frustrating. :)
Vibe-coding beats that every day!
Yet, it's exciting, incredible, great, and a million other superlatives, just like parenting. But, ... the frustration... It's big!
1. Agents have the memory of a 3-year-old - almost non-existent and very selective. Rarely can remember anything for more than 5 mins.
2. No matter how many times you say something, post it on the wall, or in the rules, if they don't feel it, they will just ignore it and keep resetting your database, for example.
3. On the rare occasions you get them to do the right thing, they may just do another 1000000 things that you didn't ask for.
4. They have no problem doing the same thing over and over again, like copying the same code all over the place.
5. No problem making things up with zero hesitation.
6. Never ask for permission, just do. When you don't know, don't ask, just try.
7. No problem to make the same mistake a million times. It's ok to try the same thing that didn't work 8 minutes ago.
8. Vibe-coding with more agents is just like parenting more toddlers at the same time. They may be fine for a short period of time, but the situation will certainly blow up.
9. Like toddlers, agents always start with "You're absolutely right", pretending they agree with you and then do something completely different.
... and so many more similarities.
Coding with agents is the future! If you can survive it. :)
